Domestic Violence

This month is dedicated to not only Breast Cancer Awareness but also to Domestic Violence. There are so many young girls being hit and beaten by young guys. Violence begets violence. So these young men have really seen alot of pain, abuse and hurt otherwise why are they striking out and hurting these girls they claim to love.

When I was working in my hometown with teenagers I used to write poems and recite them after our group sessions. I pulled them out because recently my niece was involved in a domestic violent situation. More on that later.......

Why Do I?

I know that I could die,

When I don't take flight,

To get away from the person

Who hit, slapped and kicked me.

You don't love me.

If you did, you wouldn’t hurt me!

So why do I take this pain?

When it’s you,

I no longer want to gain.

A Long Time Ago

I stopped loving you a long time ago;

The first time you knocked me on the floor.

You may think that you are all that,

But this time baby,

I'm not taking you back!

Very moving. I didn't realize that both (Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence) were recognized in October.
