If You Don't Have anything Good To Say
Mom always told me that if you don’t have anything good to say about a person, don’t say anything. But that’s hard to do when you are blogging. I am very opinionated and when I see things that bothered me or that causes harm to someone else, I have to speak out. But recently I read something in Essence from some of the well known African American actresses who seem to be decent people. I mean I haven’t heard much negative stuff or horrible gossip on the ones who spoke out in the Essence article. They stated that bloggers spread lies about them. They talked about how bloggers should be more responsible and check information before posting it.
In the past I have tried to do this and I will continue to do. But reading that article made me think about what is it I want to spread and why is it necessary. Thus, lately I feel like I don’t have much to say. Those of you who read my blog know that I love teenagers, my family, and that I love to write. But that can become boring too if that’s all I focus on. Trying to be creative and interesting is hard when your mind is so busy thinking and doing things to keep your head over water.
So this leads me back to blogging. I am opinionated and if I can’t blog about it, I’ll just become silent. But I want to blog, so honestly I have to be me. Basically, I’m back to share my opinions. I’ll continue to try to research information if need be. But heck this is my blog and though I want to write what I want, I’ll try to remain accurate as I can be when discussing folks….

You're an extremely responsible person and I can't imagine you spreading something you'd just 'heard' without it being reliable.
Sometimes I slow down in my posting on my blog, because sometimes I'm just too busy, or sometimes I'm just going through things that are too personal to blog about. Regardless, when I go long w/o blogging, I miss it.
You've developed a devoted following for a reason - because you're fresh, candid, and care about others. The best bloggers allow their personality to shine through, and you do that.
I think that blogging as an art form is here to stay. We see so much diversity when it comes to personalities, content, and writing styles. You helped me get my start in online publishing, but look at how different our sites are! :-)
I believe that bloggers should take responsibility for content. And like you and Kathi, I've learned that it takes quite a bit of time and effort to maintain a site. If you're going to blog, have fun doing it!
You're on a roll, Rose. Continue to rely on your instincts. Continue to share those "lessons learned."
I'm the same way. I have to say something.
Kathi and Deb S said what I wanted to say so I will defer to them. Plus add that I'm really glad you're back, opinions and all!
