Are you at peace with yourself and the things you do?
Are you at peace with yourself and the things you do? Sunday, February 19, I spoke to a church group filled with parents and teenagers. What was so amazing about this is the number of teens in this church. They were having a Black History program and the teens recited poetry, sang solos, and just cheered everyone on. I was the keynote speaker. Speaking to the teens and seeing the impact of what I was saying made me feel great when they gave me a standing ovation. But that's not what made me feel good. What I felt good about was this: the teens who bum rushed me after. They wanted to write books, poetry and start their own companies. Some stood there with their parents inquisitive wanting to know more about how they could do better so that they could accomplish their dreams.
Sometimes in life you can have a very negative experience that makes you want to give up on helping others and just like that God sends you right back in the field letting you know in no uncertain terms this is where he wants you. Every person I meet along the way will not be accepting of my message to strive for the best, and to do your best but someone along the way will know that they can have all their dreams with a little hard work and staying in school.
You know what? That's what makes me happy. Working with people and sharing my experiences and connecting those who want it to local resources and placing them in jobs, that is who I am and I will not let anyone change me from that course because for one thing-that's what I am destined to do. I am at peace with myself even when others try to hurt or destroy my confidence and my efforts. I am at peace with knowing that I can make a positive impact in somebody's life. That's what makes my day.
What makes your day?
