Aging, hopefully gracefully

This morning I woke up and could barely get out of bed. My legs and my whole body was stiff. Although I sleep with a fan on me and the air on, I felt like this was the big start of arthritic for me. I sure don’t want that! I am not ready to be stiff, and not being able to wear heels and stuff. I don’t want to ache. I just want to age gracefully. Why is it when we are into our forties, stuff like this start? Today forties and fifties is not an old age. Heck my mother is 70 and will be 71 this month and could still pass for 55. I want to walk and move gracefully on my feet, not wobble out of bed. I suppose I should be grateful that I am still relatively healthy and alive. Thank you Lord for my blessings. Still though, I don’t want to be stiff.

I wish you well, and it sounds like you should have good genes with your mom being a young 70.

I was thinking the same thing over the weekend. I want to always be able to move without assistance. My mom just turned 71 and she has no issues and I am grateful for that.

Rose, try yoga. I know, I couldn't believe it either but...wow. Talk about a difference. My body used to HURT every morning, making me feel far older first thing in the mornings than the 40 my birth certificate says. Now, I do 10 minutes of yoga most mornings and don't have a problem getting out of bed any more. And still wear my heels ~ which you understand. :)

Pilates is good for flexibility too.
