Mean Team

I enjoy watching American Idol. But Simon was wrong last Tuesday when he told that young man that he looked like that animal in the woods with the big eyes. Some of these kids are young and think that they can really sing, so when they look back and see the remarks made about their appearances they may suffer some emotional issues. It's okay to tell people to go back and practice but to say you look like an animal is a downer.

I hope they continue to keep this fun and not try to humiliate people with remarks about their facial and body appearances. These are the things that can break tender young hearts. Now you might be saying why are they going on the show in the first place? Well, many go because so call friends and family members will not tell them they have no talent. Others go because they really believe they have talent, yet they are tone death. When they sing they think they sound pretty good.

I’m looking forward to the show tomorrow. I just hope the comments made focus on talent verse no talent.

I don't watch "American Idol" because I don't like to see the contestants humiliated. That said, anyone who agrees to appear on the show has to accept the fact that anything goes. That's the reality.

No, the judges shouldn't be rude. (By the way, Randy can have his moments, too.) But rudeness apparently sells. Rudeness is also a part of show business. Chalk it up to our society.

First time commenting. I agree wholeheartedly with you. That has always irritated me about that show. Focus on their talent, do not make it so personal and about their appearance etc. Now, of course, they are trying to make it in the business so looks DO matter, however, in the beginning concentrate on their voice and comment on that.

One of the young people they insulted in Seattle actually had some mental and physical challenges and had participated in the special olympics. I think I'm through watching.

I think American Idol stopped being fun after the first season when they 'blew up.' Now the show is all about ratings which are equivalent to dollars. I'm fully convinced that some of those folks are paid actors. It is unfortunate that some of the contestants are humiliated in that manner, but you know what happens when you walk in a circus, right? Simon, Paula, and Randy are getting paid swell to do exactly what they are doing.

I have not been a fan of the show at all. I have not watched even one full show. It is irritating to me. I don't like Simon AT ALL. He is too full of himself which means he is covering for some insecurities. LOL. Yeah, I went Dr. Shai on that.

We all have a right to opinions that does not mean we say them. Yes, contestants know they could be humilated. Some don't think they are bad, some actually want attention, ANY attention, there are so people out there with serious mental problems going on AI.

It makes me feel a lil sick in the gut to see how much fun they make of people not knowing what is up with the person. I hope no one goes Columbine during auditions or tries to catch the 3 out in public. Folks are crazy these days.

Unfortunately, rudeness makes for good television. I cannot watch this show until it gets down to the final two.

Part of me feels bad as a lot of these kids are young and impressionable, but the other part of the thinks they knew exactly what they were signing up for.

Last night was hysterical. I must admit at the expense of the "young dreamers" who apparently haven't been told yet that they don't have that special quality the Mean Team is looking for.

Anyway, my husband and I were high fiving each throughout the show. Some of these contestants are crazy with their style, or lack of, and props. We all know that those highlighted are done so deliberately for the ratings. It’s what keeps us tuned in.

I especially liked Sundance Head. He has soul and a famous father from back in the day (60's).

New York is next. It should be very entertaining. I know, I’m from there!

Chele...I applaud you for that.

My heart breaks for some of them, and then some of them just make me want to kick them. I can't understand how some go on and actually beg them to let them go on anyway, have they never watched the show? There was a girl last night that said she was tone deaf, knew she couldn't sing, but didn't think she had to sing to be the next American Idol. ???

Sometimes the judges are brutal and I think the contestants have to expect that going in and just suck it up. Also for the ones that are really bad -- come on -- they have to know they are really bad. I think they are just hoping to have some of William Hung's success. He is the worst singer ever, but he still got a recording contract. All in all, folks are just looking for those elusive 15 minutes of fame, no matter how humiliating it may be.
