The Man of the Year

(picture of my husband & daughter at her debutante ball)

Meet my husband Cedric. Although he gets on my nerves sometimes because we are really opposites of the coin, I still love him. He is a great husband, father and son & law, and my sisters and brothers would say the same about having him as in-law.About five months ago my dad needed a car; I was going crazy worrying over dad because I knew that he was not handling that well. Dad has always been the provider, the one who would purchase his kids cars and anything they needed or wanted but retirement changed a lot for him. So getting a car was not in his budget. Once I went over to take him to the store and to pay some bills and he looked so sad, almost broken. By the time I got home I had a sad spirit and when my husband inquired, I told him but he said we can't afford to purchase him a car.

For about a week I was sad and one day I pulled up into the driveway, this was in the driveway,

a Chevy mini van. Thinking we had visitors I walked into the house and my hubby throws the keys to me and said take that to your dad. He bought the van because my dad repairs things for other senior citizens and he wanted him to have space for tools. Although it is a used model it runs great plus my dad is a certified mechanic so he can fix anything if something happens, especially this van, after all dad has build several cars.

I thought I would write this as I sit back and admire how my husband is handling the problem with our electricity being off for four days and it seems no release in sight. He is keeping this fire going, keeping the generator gassed and last night he plugged up the TV to the generator and I watched a DVD-Stepping to Savoy. A few minutes ago he called to see what I wanted for dinner as he went to fetch some more fire logs. My husband has stepped up to the plate so many times for my family and his. He is in his early 40's, has a little gray at his temples but he had achieved so much. Most of all he is a Christian man. His other attributes are he is easy to get along with, doesn't scream and holler, doesn't blow money, loves our families but won't let them get over on him. He's just simply a good man. Most of my friends say, "You are lucky to have him," because they know him but I say I am blessed. This is not bragging, I just feel proud and wanted to share the man who calms my fears.

He hates taking pictures and he would be totally embarrassed about this post..

What a wonderful way to honor a wonderful man. He seems like the kind of man who makes the world a better place just by his presence in it. God bless him ~ and you, my friend~ (because you aren't the only lucky and blessed one in your marriage) ;)

that's a great story, rose! It's wonderful to know that you have someone who, despite your differences, is soooo in love with you and you with him. that's so encouraging.

I'm learning to be patient and take my time at discovering love rather than write off a brother just because we're different.

Your husband and daughter look great, by the way. You have such a beautiful family!

What a wonderful tribute to your husband! He seems so thoughtful. It seems you were blessed with a good one! I hope you take time everyday to let him know just how much he is appreciated. And I hope he does the same for you!

Also, thanks by the way for coming to my chat yesterday that I moderated for Donna Hill. I hope you'll come back for my actual chat Thursday at 10am EST.

Hope your niece is doing better.
