Never Too Ready!

It's been a good day though early this morning was pretty rough. We put a mattress in the living room on the floor so that we could sleep by the fireplace. After 11:00 p.m. we turn the generator off because you have to have your garage half way open so the exhaust can go into the streets and we wanted to secure the house. Well the fire logs burned out around 3:00 a.m. but I was too cold to get up and start a fire. So I went back to sleep. Around 5:00 a.m. I was nearly frozen so I restarted the fire.

Everything went well until around 11:00 a.m., we were out of fire logs. We searched everywhere. Thank God the streets had been cleaned. I was in a panic because the hotels were at capacity. Finally I saw a neighbor who was unloading her truck with fire logs and I asked her where she got them, she sent me to this place, a tree trimming place and we were able to get 60 huge/thick fire logs for $20.00 bucks. So now we know where to go...

That just taught me you can never be too ready- I thought we had enough but what I didn't count on was how quickly the batch we bought yesterday would burn...

Hello Rose,

It sounds like you are keeping warm, despite everything going on at this time in your part of the world.

In the true spirit of Christmas, I have decided to lend my support to a very worthy cause - the upcoming Rick Springfield benefit concert being held on Dec. 8th in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to assist cancer victim Sahara Aldridge. For more information, see my most recent blog issue of Saturday, Dec. 1st.

Have a great week!

Try and stay warm. I sure hope they get the power back on soon. On a lighter note have you been roasting chestnuts on an open fire?

Gurl, we had a bad storm here about 9 years ago and we did not have power for 4 days. I almost went crazy. I lived in a family flat with my mom and my daughter and all we had was a kerosene heater. I hate the smell and a bunch of blankets. There was so much snow outside we put our bags of food on the back top porch in the snow.

I hope things get better for you. It sounds fun and sexy to be next to the hubby near a fireplace. I know it is tiring to trying to keep warm and monitor the house.

Has this allowed you time to write?

i can't believe you guys are still without electricity. I heard people in St Louis were so upset they were throwing things at the electricity workers who were trying to restore power. I hope things are back to normal for you soon!
