What would you do?

What would you do if your boss walked up to you and asked you for a yearly report at 1:30 p.m. and he needs it by 12:00 noon the next day? Well that is exactly what happened to me. I am a workaholic and own two companies, a publishing and non for profit. But to make all these ends meet I work full time too. Even though I nearly have the report completed I think it is insensitive for a superior to ask for a report when they knew that they needed it 6 months ago.

Fortunately, I am a manager and anticipated this happening so I had partially prepared it. But this is why I am working so hard to get my companies off the ground because I believe that employees are the key to having a successful business and must be treated with respect. This is why employees get so wired up because this kind of demand changes their plans and may affect their families. Bosses need to get a grip and remember who is really running the company.

Random Thoughts:

Why is it that blogs randomly disappears without warning? Well I am back. I don't know what happened but I am glad to have my blog back?

Why is it that women continue to date men that they don't investigate? I am glad that I am married but if I wasn't I would definitely pay for a report on someone who wanted to date me and I him. Too often women end up with violent men and lose their lives because they didn't really know them. In the last 6 weeks here in St. Louis, two women or at least one, the other was only 17 lost their lives after they started dating guys who were released recently from prison. These guys were locked up for assault and domestic violence, all they did was picked another victim. Both women died violently. Women please investigate these men because; all that look good ain't good for you!

I have experienced the same frustrations with my manager. He loves to spring things on you at last minute.

That is one of the things that reduces the level of productivity in individuals as well as in organisations.

Hi Rose - God has truly blessed you with the strength to handle what your boss gives you - although sometimes it may be last minute. I understand how this is b/c I have a boss like this. Preparation is great - you are blessed to have this wisdom.

I identify with your heart so well - that saddens me about those women being murdered in such a violent way. There should definitely be more warnings about these kind of men.

God Bless!

Hi Rose,
I tried to visit yesterday and I got a big pink screen. :) Anyway, it's sad that people have to do a background check these days, but it's probably necessary. I don't think that my wife gave me one, but who knows? lol She would probably tell me that God already took care of that for her. :)
Btw, don't let the "man/woman" get you down. Hang in there and have a great weekend!

Glad you're back too. Bosses can be very frustrating ... good thing you were prepared.

My favorire shows are American Justice and Cold Case Files and I'm always seeing these types of violent stories. It's horrible. We should start a campaign "Don't Date till you Investigate!"

Have a good weekend.

Do we have the same boss? I lovingly (ha ha) call mine Atilla the Hun.

Reading you with one eye, but have enjoyed catching up :-)

Ah, the joys of management who have forgotten what it means to be in the trenches. Like you, I have had that kind of request made of me. Like you, I met the deadline. But it kinda makes you want to shake them, doesn't it?

Thank you for the PSA about domestic violence. It is the cause nearest to my heart. Keep preaching it!

And I'm really glad you're back as well. You were missed.

Luckily for me I have to run monthly reports anyway, so if they needed a yearly, it wouldn't take that much for me. It's messed up with your boss did to you, but I hope you got it done so you can prove a point.

Welcome back Rose :). Your Superior sounds super disorganised and thank goodness you had anticipated them asking for that report or you would've been in trouble!

That's exactly what I was talking about, and there's nothing you can do. You can't just stop working.

Bosses are generally awful. That's why I'm self-employed.

As for dangerous men--are you referring to criminal background checks? I don't know if that's the best way to go about it. You don't need to do a criminal background check to find out if someone was recently released from prison--ask him what he does for a living, where he went to school...figure out if he can account for his time!

Also, ex-criminals aren't necessarily bad guys, and bad guys aren't necessarily convicted criminals. I dated two ex-felons (not at the same time). One was a really nice guy, although we were incompatible in various ways. The other was not a nice guy, but I can't say he physically harmed me, either.

It is never good when things are placed on your shoulders in the 11th hour. I usually had for the chocolate!

This is a very tough act and I know that often people have to suffer this kind of ordeal. You will become the boss some day and then remember this matter when you deal with your subordinates.
