Updates:

On my niece: My niece is due to have her baby boy in the next week or so. So far she has not been hurt by her boyfriend. Though we believe she is being mentally abused. She is too scared of her boyfriend. Very jumpy when he calls. Still she will not admit that he abuses her. Lately, she spends a lot of time with her mother and dad, they suspect she is still being beaten. There are no visible signs on her body. I haven't seen her in the last month but I have spoken to her. She wants me to witness her baby being born. I told her that I would but I am sure that he will be in the room too. So I really don't know if I will actually go through with it. I don't think I could stand being around him. I've never met this young man. He should be about 19 and she is 21. She is still working and just bought her a car. He is still unemployed. Keep her in your prayers.

On Flava Flav: I have to admit it, I have been watching his show. I'm addicted to seeing these women crying anad fighting over this man. Though I don't get it, I do believe that New York really like this man. She passed the lie detector test. I hopes she gets him. This has been the highlight of my Sunday nights. It's too funny. Everyone needs love so I hope these women get what they want.

On older women and young men: My friends' older aunt dump the young dude. She figured it out. My girlfriend said the woman said she knew he was using her but she was using him too. See the older woman was smarter than I thought.

On baking sweet potato pies: I finally baked a sweet potato pie from scatch. Everybody loved it. I never heard so many, "this is so good" and may I have another piece in my life."I used the recipe mom gave me and I must admit, it was the first time the pie was eaten all up at my home. I guess mom knew best. I really needed help with this baking thing.

I learned this lesson: sometimes you have to let things simmer and happen. When folks get tired or want to make something happen they will. My niece, I believe will leave the abusive relationship if he goes after that baby. The older woman got what she wanted and I learned to bake a great pie. Who said you never stop learning.

How interesting would life be if we stopped learning? Congrats on the pie. Wanna bake another one that you can send to me?

I'm praying for your niece and her situation. Seeing you in the delivery room, whether her boyfriend is there or not would mean a lot to her -- I hope you choose to support her.

Yeah, I love the Flav show. It's like watching an old buddy since I used to be a big fan of Public Enemy back in the day. I'm going for New York too. :)

Oh goodness! It does not sound like your niece is in a very good situation. I’m sorry to hear that and with a new baby on the way its just so sad.

I have not been watching Flava of Love, but I did see a recap of the girl spitting in the the other girls face. That was crazy! I would have had to stomp her in the ground after that!

It's great when you cook something and other people eat it all up. That's so much more fulfilling than going out to eat somewhere.

I will be praying for your niece. I know all to well what it is like to be pregnant and be in an abusive relationship. I pray that it doesn't take anything happening to the baby to wake her up, but that because of the baby she will be strong enough to leave. My son made me that strong only because I didn't want him to be in the crossfire of his father's rage. Stay strong for your niece, she will need that now more than ever.

Congrats on your pie! Mama's recipes always work.

Flavor Flav is the show! I am addicted to it. I watch twice on Sundays.
