I've seen the play Dreamgirls three times. The first with Sheryl Lee Ralph and the second was a professional traveling play too. The third time was put on this summer in St. Louis and I tell you it was sold out every single night. The play in St. Louis was absolutely the best. The actor/actresses did their thing and Effie was terrific. She and the entire cast received encore after encore standing ovations. I can't wait to see The Movie Dreamgirls with the stellar cast of Beyonce', Jennifer from American Idol, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Fox. They will all be on Oprah Monday, November 20, and from her reviews of the play she said that Jennifer was amazing and blew the roof off the house with I am telling you. My girlfriends and I will take in a matinee, go to dinner and shop. We try to spend quality time together at least every three months...

I can't wait to see this either and Jennifer Hudson is my homegirl so you know I gots to show her some love. I hope it's not hyped up and I'm disappointed because sometimes movies have a way of doing that.
If the wifey is interested in seeing it, I'll check it out. Otherwise, I'll wait until next year to peep it on DVD. I hope it does well at the box office though. It's got a stellar lineup for sure. I'm interested to see Eddie do his thing in a dramatic role. Here's to Dreamgirls.
i saw the cast on Oprah and they made me so proud to be black. It seems like on every level this movie works -- and who knows DREAMGIRLS could sweep the Oscars! Wouldn't that be something???? I have the original Dreamgirls soundtrack with Jennifer Holiday singing "And I am Telling You, Im Not Going." That song still to this day blows me away. Can't wait to see whate Jennifer Hudson does with it. Is it a coincidence that both are named Jennifer? I think not! :-) Kudos to the cast for such brilliant work. To date, I've just seen snippets here and there. Can't wait to see the whole thing.
