The Little White Lie?

Have you ever lied to someone to make them feel good? One day I witness this salesperson telling someone that they looked great in an outfit that actually looked horrible on the shopper. I wanted to wait until she came out of the dressing room to tell her the person had lied. Although I didn't say anything because it wasn't my business and the shopper didn't ask me. What would you have done?

1. Pulled the lady aside and tell her the salesperson lied.

2. Walk away and say the buyer should know better.

3. Complain to the salesperson that she lied and she was wrong.

I am the kind of person who doesn't like to hurt others feeling. I would do number 3.

What would you do?

Rope: You are right. I should have had that choice-nothing. But I am so easy going I know me and I probably would have said joking to her (the saleslady), you know you wrong for that.

most people wouldn't say anything. But honestly, I have seen folks say something. The shopper didn't get angry either. Once a salesperson asked me what I thought, and I was truthful. I have also said to shoppers posing in the mirror, that really looks nice on you. But trust me I wouldn't say anything to a salesperson or a customer who already had an attitude on their face. But if the face was friendly, I would joking say that was wrong...trust me everyone who knows me would tell you that I am not a busy body....

I would have done exactly what you did. Nothing, because the person didn't ask my opinion. But I wouldn't lie to someone and tell them they look good in an outfit that they look horrible in. I'm a pretty blunt and forward person. And I think lieing like that means you really don't care.

Many, many years ago I work in retail sales. We didn't make commission so it was no pressure on that end. I would always tell the person if it looked good or not because usually if it looked crappy, they surely would bring it back.

I would have joked with the saleperson too.

a sales person can help you find a cute pair a jeans or a top, but they will not tell you if those clothes are not looking quite so cute on you.

I wouldn't have said anything. It wasn't my affair to do so. However, if one of my friends were in the same position, then it would be a totally different thing. I do believe in necessary lies though. The truth may set you free, but you can't tell the truth about everything.

I wouldn't have said a thing. If folks can't look in the mirror and decide if they look good or not than they should bring a trusted friend with them and not rely on the opinion of someone who just wants you to spend your money.

But that's just me.

If it was friend I would say something and the saleperson is trying to make a buck doing his or her job too. So if it was a friend I would say something.
