Random Thoughts

Isn't it great to see that Whitney is heading back to the Land of the Living? I just hope that it is true but from the looks of the pictures someone sent to me, maybe it is. I can't wait to hear her sing again. I mean Whitney was the greatest and with God's help she can be again.

Who said it was fun to be home all day? Not for me. I have been home for one week and I am already bored. I have worked 20 years straight full time and never thought I would be laid off as a result of Bush economics. But no problems, I'll be working in no time. My decision is just deciding what to do. I do have the publishing company but that part time for me. I'm a multi-tasker so I have to be busy 24/7 to feel alive. Weird huh, but that's how I have always been.

I was asked a question today that perplexed me? It was by a young man who said that he had been molested at 6 years old by a male family friend. On his 19th birthday, he decided to come out clean about being gay. He always knew but never pursued this out of fear from others and the way society treats gay folks. He was also trying desperately not to disappoint his mom and dad and other relatives. He asked me, "If being gay is suppose to be a sin, why did God put the G-spot in the butt?" I couldn't answer because I didn't know it was there. He said, he didn't want to be gay at all but he liked sex like that since the molestation. The molestation went on for three years. I'm not a Bible wizard, nor do I know everything. But I don't believe that God does things to hurt, condemn and destroy us. I can't answer that question but I just said pray about it. I also said that he should just be honest with himself and family and that would take a lot of burden off him. I honestly didn't know what to say! Cat really had my tongue for the first time...

Why are all these women killing and taking other women fetus out their stomach and trying to act like they had a baby? With all the babies and children in foster care, why not just adopt? Mental illness is on the rise. That's why I decided to pen this book out around Christmas.

I believe that so many teens are dealing with mental health issues but they are being left untreated. The girl had many issues that were sealed in court because she was a juvenile. She should have been treated for a long time.

I have met too many kids, teens and their families who had no knowledge about how to get help when something isn't right. African Americans seek God and family to help with mental illness. That's great but we have to also learn what we are dealing with in order to handle it. I hope this book helps to introduce Depression to our community and let people know that it is nothing wrong with seeking help to get better. It wiill be released in December 2006.

G-spot in the butt? WTH????

That is probably the craziest thing I've heard all day.

Please continue to keep us updated on the release of the book. It is so important for Black folk to realize it's okay to seek professional help in times of distress. I sought therapy after my divorce and it was the best thing I could have done.

My sentiments exactly. Apparently he feared that he was sinning and would be condemned so that was why he asked if it was a sin, why the g-spot in the butt. I've never heard of that before.

Hello Rose,

Thanks for your recent visit to my blogsite.

Whitney is looking good and I join in on wishing her wellness at this time. Her voice is a gift from above and it's only right that she should be allowed to continue sharing this gift with us. I will be following along to see her progress.

Today is World Mental Health day and this year's theme is "Building Awareness - Reducing Risks: Mental Illness and Suicide." There is a lot to be said here about schizophrenia, depression, personality disorders, sexual abuse and other types of mental illness. This may help to explain the young man's confusion about the location of his g-spot. In this case, his mental disorder was brought on by molestation at an early age which most likely has never been addressed nor treated.

The same can be said about women who go around killing and stealing fetuses. It has to do with the unresolved issues in their lives which lead to this type of personality disorder.

Good luck on the upcoming release of your book :)

There are a whole lot of people who believe seeking help is a sign of weakness. I think it’s popular for people to think, “just look in yourself” and “trust your gut”. These things may be guides, but they rarely seem to help us identify the patterns of behavior that cause us the most difficulties in life. Sometimes we need help.

It’s wonderful that you teach people that they do.

I'm fairly certain that the G-spot is not in the anal canal. And I have no scientific answer for why anal sex is pleasurable for some people (male and female).

And I agree that God does not entrap us. He should definitely pray and meditate on the Word for the answers he's seeking.

The book definitely sounds interesting.

That sad, someone reallly messed him up. LOL @ Chele. Thats what I thought too.

Has that young man been through therapy? While I think his homosexuality is unrelated to his molestation I think he still needs it. You gave him great advice. The only other thing I might have said is that people reject you, but that doesn't mean you are a bad person. You love who you love.

I will look for your new book Rose. I just talked about depression today in class, how Ironic, I also learned something new today...I never new that Oregon was the only state allowed to give you pills if you want to die?

I find that so stupid. I can understand if you are sick, in pain and cant take it anymore, but not in pain and just wanting to end your life, no I wouldnt give them the pills, thats messed up.

Why kill yourself? That just shows everyone you never gave your life chance, you were born into this world for a reason, why not live it?

Hey Rose, I like the cover to that book. I think it catches the essence of the plight of young people trapped in a bottle. I love those pictures of Whitney, and I don't want to be a killjoy, but I'd been forwarding those pictures around myself in the past month or so.

Only to find out that they are a few years old. I believe the pics are from the Woman's World Awards 2004 where Whitney received an award. Although she looks stunning, it'll be sometime before our sista returns to her past vocal and physical glory.

Another good post! I wish I had enough time to come and read your posts everyday. It just seems like there is not enough time in a day to visit the blogs of all my on line friends. The book sounds interesting and is one I would love to read.

Whitney is looking a little like her old self.

ttd: thanks
Dr. Deb: Same thing I thought.

Belizegial: Thanks. You are so right. When you interview and talk to folks who suffers from mental illness you find that they have many unresolved issues.

Princess Dom: I think many are waiting to hear from her.

Rose said...

Nosthegametoo: thank you. You are so right but healing happens best in my opinion when you can release your pain.

Rose said...

Brownsoul: I think think the g-spot was there either. But I just provides a listening ear to folks.

Brother Buck: that is why so many people need to be absolutely sure about folks who watch over their children. Predators are everywhere and are every age.

I have recommended it. Hopefully he will take heed to it.

Wow Nella! I will have to research that. I wasn't aware of that happening. But its' good they are discussing this topic more in the classroom.

Luke thanks for the info about the pictures, but honestly she does look like that now. I saw her on television on ET with Clive and her aunt Dionne recently and she looked healthy and very pretty. Hoopefully she is fighting to stay clean. It really is the hardest thing she will ever have to do.

On the cover, I thought that it would represent how teens hold their pain in, bottled themselves up. If not release they burst.

I know what you mean. I enjoy so many posts but if I read everyday I wouldn't get a thing done. So I read once or twice a week.

Mental illness is definately something that needs to be taught more in the African-American community. It is no laughing matter. Bebe Moore Campbell had a good book out on this subject.

Looking forward to reading your book.

I was just telling my kids the other day that if Whitney came even close to half the voice she use to be, they were going to be in for a real treat someday. I loved her!

The G-spot in the butt...uhhhmmmm, no. There may be another 'spot' there, but the g-spot isn't. I'll look it up and send it to you.

I'm praying for your friend.

I'm glad that depression isn't a 'dirty secret' like it use to be, that it's something we can talk about now. Thanks for the good word.

Loved the Bottled Up Inside Book Cover. Enjoy exploring the next "work" phase in your life. You will have no problem finding employment -- hope you find something that fills you with joy! BTW, I used to be a big Whitney fan! Can't wait to see what's in store for her, now that she's cut loose some dead weight.

And I'm ashamed that the stealing babies from their momma's stomach thing has happened in both the state I grew up in and the state I live in now! SMH...
