Updates

Good news! The young girl who was brutally attached in St. Louis by her teacher is not paralyzed. Ashley Reeves is hospitalized fighting various injuries related to brain trauma," Mickel and Michelle Reeves said in a statement. "At this time, doctors can confirm that Ashley is not paralyzed and she is not on life support."Ashley Reeves suffered a broken neck and was left in a densely wooded area of a Belleville park. Police estimate she was left in cool, damp weather for over 30 hours. Freeburg High School teacher Sam Shelton of Smithton has been charged in connection with the attack. Hopefully she will not have any brain damage as a result of this heinous act. Thought I would give you the static since this was so horrible. Plus I hate when our children are hurt by an adult.

My daughter is officially a high school graduate. I am excited about this but sad at the same time. Her dad is in a worst state than I am but I am sure that we will be okay. Actually for the first time in my life I have considered traveling overseas which in the past has been quite scary for me for two reasons. I hate the long flying time and because of terrorism.
But someone said something to me the other day that made me think and it was this, "we should always be cautious but not so scared we can't enjoy life." I thought about that. I love beautiful lands and scenery, flowers, and nature. I would love to explore it more. Maybe I will.

Updates on contests:

The winner of the picnic basket and two books is Pam Weston, resident of Belleville, Illinois.

The winner of the fax machine is Kim King of St. Louis, MO

Thanks for all your support.

Finally, I have really missed blogging because of all the stuff we were involved in with my daughter as she completed her high school education. I am back and will be visiting all my blogging family members. I am posting pictures of my daughters' graduation and later of the debutante ball because I am proud of her. So many parents are having a difficult time trying to keep their teens in schools.

As many of you know I work with educators and teens are citing many reasons for not wanting to complete school from boredom to bullying & violence in the schools. Although I work hard to keep our teens from dropping out, it really made me proud to see my own daughter and her friends walk across that stage. My goal is to continue to find ways to motivate and encourage parents to become involved in their child's education. But in the mean time here are the pictures.

Please mentor a kid. Statistics for dropouts are so dismal. These kids need our support.

More than 300 students graduated from my daughters' class. This was pretty good but not great. When I graduated from high school it was from a class of 1,022, even though only 722 of us walked.

Buy yourself a t-shirt from Cracker Lilo and travel. It's worth it, Rose. Seriously.

HI, I wanted to congratulate your daughter. But also, congratulate you on the opportunity you have given to many teenagers, that are not your sons, yet you have treated as one.
