I edited my book "A Hole in My Heart" last night and added six new pages of text. I enjoyed working with my friend Edna writing and conversing by email about enhancing the counseling sessions in this book. That was fun. What was even better was having a friend who was willing to put down everything and help me. She didn't have to but she wants my dream of becoming a traditional published author to come true. That's what real friends will do for you. They will help you without complaining when they know that your dreams are at stake. They comfort you when you need that extra push to feel okay about yourself. Good friends are there when you need them. They don't chastise you because for that one moment you become consume with what your goals are. They don't judge, envy, despise, and try to make you look bad in front of others or pretend that you are important. What real friends do is love you in spite of everything even in spite of your shortcomings. They know that you are excited about projects and they get excited about you.
That's what my friend Edna is like. She has always supported me in everything that I do. She has encouraged me when I didn't believe in myself. My first writing job came from her pushing me way beyond my limits. I remember how it started. She asked me to write a speech for her. She is a nationally known quilt and fabric artist. Edna is also a licensed therapist. She loved the speech and asked me had I written anything else. I showed her an article and she sent it to a magazine. Wow-I got my first writing job as a columnist. It was her belief and faith in me. I hope that I can be the same kind of friend as she has been to me. Edna is someone I really do love. So have you told your friends or someone that's close to you how important they are to you? If not, let them know today. The lesson for today is this, tell your supporters how much they mean to you. So Mary S., Edna, Johnnie, Kim, Deborah H. and Deborah S., Tamara, Tina, and Demetra, Princess, Connie, Regina, Glorina, Shirley, Victoria and Chaszetta, you all are very important to me and have supported me in my writing and business and I appreciate you and hold you dear to my heart.
