I left town to attend my nephew’s funeral. We decided to drive the 6 ½ hour distance. Once there, we visited with family members. We arrived at the hotel and as I readied myself for a shower I reached into the closet for my luggage. “Honey, where’s my luggage?” “It should be there”, he said. The three of us searched for my bags, my daughter, hubby and I could not locate them. Both of their luggages were sitting in the closet where they had put them.
After realizing that I left my luggage at home, I had to find a place that was still open to go purchase everything, toiletries, underwear, something to sleep in, make-up, just the whole work. I didn’t even have shoes for the funeral. I only had the jogging suit on my back and one dress outfit. For some reason I decided to put this outfit in my husband’s suit bag. It was an all black sweater two-piece set. If I hadn’t done that I would have cried. Luckily there was a Wal-Mart open, 24 hours. I bought everything I needed there but refused to purchase shoes there because I am particular about shoes.
The mall would not open until 10 o’clock and the funeral was at 10:00. Thank goodness for J.C. Penney’s, they had some very nice leather shoes. I was able to purchase shoes and stocking. I couldn’t believe that I left my luggage home. What an experience!
