Thanking God Again:

In July we had the worst storm of the century. More than half a million folks were without electricity and the city was basically closed down. On Wednesday, November 29, we had almost 70 degree weather. On Thursday, the temperature dropped and it started raining, then freezing rain then snow. We haven't had a winter like this since 1978. Again, about half a million are without electricity, I'm included. But I was ready this time with candles, a generator, and firewood. I sit here reading email, by the fireplace with my little lamp on. It's still cold throughout the rest of the house but I am surviving. I was a little disappointment that I didn't finished the NANO challenge to write a novel in 30 days. I started a week late and had it not been for two days without electricity I would have made it. I finished with 36,000 words. But what I am most proud of is this is my first Christian novel and I took my time, and wrote it well. So I am going to finished it hopefully this weekend. The best thing is that I have learned so much about writing and I think it is going to be a great read. When I wrote my first novel I was such a newbie-but this time I am much more seasoned and I feel good about what I've written.

The news is predicting that we may be without power for four or more days...During this freezing storm which covered the tree limbs and weigh them down to the point of breakage- well we heard power supply boxes exploding and the bright light or fire that came from it. We thought it was lightening until we saw the news. Pray for the people who are still cold and refuse to leave their homes for shelters and warm centers- many are elderly and don't want someone breaking in to steal their things....

Something to make you smile:

Oh Rose so sorry to hear about the power outage. I remember when you talked about the storm in July because my friend was there for a conference and after reading your blog I called her husband and he blew up her cell trying to get in touch with her. Thank God she as well was fine and out of danger. Please keep us updated and be safe.

How exciting to be soooo close to completion. I was so happy to read that you had supplies to get you through things.

36,000 words is nothing to sneer at, even if you didn't make the official deadline. CONGRATULATIONS!

Try to enjoy the adventure of living life by candlelight. Prayers are with the whole community.

Rose,

You have to teach me HOW. The finer points of writing, that is. Congrats on completing your first Christian novel. When and where can we buy one? Remember, I am down in the tropics.

Stay safe and warm during your winter storm.

All the best,
Enid~
