What a Beautiful Blessed Day!

We did it! Finally we met so many evacuees. They were friendly. One thing though we had to relocate the site again due to a prediction of rain but we were able to let folks know. We moved to the United Way building where we could use the outside area as well as the inside. There was a picnic, a concert, job interviews by many companies on site, food, clothes, etc. Everything you thought you wanted was there. It was a beautiful sunny day-thanks Dee Dee. Okay I tried to captured some pictures but couldn't post people without their knowledge so here are a few just to let you know that it was a great day! I may post later other pictures after we develop the film just to give you a better feel of the number of people who were there. These posters were everywhere.

Some people sitting down for lunch of barbecue, hamburgers, etc. Too much food. It was everywhere.

This is the toy store. Children were able to select everything they thought they wanted or needed. This area was the size of a full size room.

Kim who is also a blogger was there too helping families select toys and clothes.

My daughter and her best friend assisting me in keeping the clothes in order by size so that the people sorting wouldn't feel overwhelmed going through so much stuff..

Kim, good for you! Those pictures look familiar. I also had an experience about a month ago with helping evacuees. The city of Austin was overwhelmed with volunteers and donations. We even signed up to take in a family, but that didn't work out.

All my best for you

AWWW Ms Rose

I was there at the back room. I helped bagging some cloth they thought is not good. They told me they will be sending those close for recyling. Do not know. I wished I knew how you looked. I would come and take picture with you.

I remember doing a community service project like that for women in a shelter a few years back. Hard work but rewarding. The families were so grateful for the donations.
